From the venue:

T. Lang Dance is proud to be celebrating 10 years of Sweatshop Summer Dance Intensive! Though we were looking forward to hosting our students again at The Movement Lab, we are excited to bring this program into the virtual realm and hope to reach even more dancers this year.

Sweatshop offers a challenging and intimate learning experience for pre-professionals and professionals in the field of dance. Sweatshop provides a unique opportunity for movement artists to grow their progressive understanding of contemporary movement led by professional choreographers. Classes focus on core strength and velocity along with subtlety and tenderness, allowing each dancer to demonstrate complex movement sequences with confidence.

As a teenager in the late 1970s in Oakland, California, Yearby was a professional disco dancer. In the 1980s, she trained in modern dance at San Jose State University, supplemented by classes in Limon technique with Aaron Osborne at New Performance Gallery in San Francisco. In addition to her work for musical theater, she is founder and co-artistic director of Movin’ Spirits Dance Theater.
