Artificial intelligence (AI) models are now capable of collecting and analyzing enormously large databases in ways that are challenging fundamental values claimed in Europe and the United States. AI empowers the machine to such a point that it may jeopardize what is to be human compared to a machine, what it is to have free choice and even what it is to play a role in society. France, the European Union and the United States have not yet clearly defined the approaches they will take to address these ethical issues. The governments are, in 2020, still considering options to maximize the potential of AI and big data while mitigating ethical dilemmas.
