Please join us as we delve into Ragnar Kjartansson’s “The Visitors” with Georgia Tech professor Dr. Philip Auslander. “The Visitors” is a mesmerizing nine-channel sound and video recording featuring performers and musicians playing a composition by Kjartansson and Davíð Þór Jónsson with lyrics from artist Ásdís Sif Gunnarsdóttir. About Our Speaker
Dr. Philip Auslander is a professor at Georgia Tech in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication. He teaches primarily in Performance Studies with particular interests in music performance, performance and technology, and the documentation of performance. He has written seven books, including Liveness: Performance in a Mediatized Culture, Reactivations: Essays on Performance and Its Documentation, and In Concert: Performing Musical Persona, as well as catalogue essays for exhibitions at Tate Modern, Walker Art Center, Migros Museum of Contemporary Art, the Prada Foundation, and others.
