CL RECOMMENDS
CL Critic Hal Horowitz Recommends: This impressive double bill of Americana acts is headlined by the Moonpies and their Commander Cody styled country songs with a strong dose of swing and Southern rock, heavy on pedal steel and frontman Mike Harmeier’s Texas-infused twangy voice. The openers borrow a page from Steve Earle’s tougher country style. — HH

MIKE AND THE MOONPIES RELEASE ‘CHEAP SILVER AND SOLID COUNTRY GOLD’
Sixth Studio Album Recorded at London’s Abbey Road; Features London Symphony Orchestra and Guest Vocals from Shooter Jennings, Nikki Lane and More
“The Year’s Most Sophisticated Country Album….” Rolling Stone Country

Mike and the Moonpies released their sixth studio album, ‘Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold,’ today. Produced by Adam Odor, this project was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with help from the London Symphony Orchestra and is the Austin-based band’s most adventurous record to date — an album that diversifies the band’s honky-tonk roots by adding lush strings, cinematic arrangements, and collaborative songwriting to the mix.
