September 15, 2021 (Decatur, GA) — Amplify My Community announced today that two Grammy Award-winning songwriters will join the Amplify Decatur Music Festival on Saturday, October 2. John Paul White and Rodney Crowell will each perform live. Old 97s, previously announced as part of the festival, have recently canceled a number of shows, including their performance at Amplify Decatur.The Amplify Decatur Music Festival line-up also features headliners Indigo Girls; Grammy Award winners Blind Boys of Alabama; The Cactus Blossoms; and Michelle Malone. The event takes place 4-11 p.m. in the Decatur Square. Tickets are on sale at AmplifyDecatur.org: $60 for general admission, $150 for VIP, and $250 for premium VIP.John Paul White, formerly one-half of the acclaimed duo The Civil Wars, is currently touring in support of his latest release, “The Hurting Kind,” a contemporary love letter to the musical masterpieces of early 1960s-era Nashville. Country and Americana legend Rodney Crowell’s rich history spans more than 40 years, an array of awards, and a bountiful songbook tapped by countless artists from Johnny Cash and Emmylou Harris to Etta James and the Grateful Dead.
“Americana music has always been a key aspect of the Amplify Decatur Music Festival,” says Drew Robinson, president of the Amplify board. “And John Paul White and Rodney Crowell represent the best of the genre’s past, present, and future.”

Amplify Decatur also includes a free event on Friday, October 1, featuring Shawn Mullins, GhostStories, and Desmond Champion. The event runs from 7-11 p.m.Additionally, Amplify announced its updated COVID-19 protocols. The organizers will be requiring all attendees to provide on-site proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 48 hours of the event. Festival partners Viral Solutions will offer on-site testing at a reduced charge to ticket holders who do not meet the requirements. All attendees, vendors, and volunteers must wear masks, which will be provided free-of-charge at the event. To allow for social distancing, capacity is being reduced to 60%, which is less than 1,999 attendees.The Amplify Decatur Music Festival is presented by Lenz and produced in partnership with Eddie’s Attic. All proceeds will be directed to Decatur Cooperative Ministry (DCM) to aid their efforts to prevent and alleviate homelessness in Decatur and DeKalb County.
