CL’s Hal Horowitz: Singer-songwriter Carll can be slotted into the country music field, but like John Prine — a major influence on Carll — his edgy, often swampy music and lyrics transcend that genre. His dark humor clicked early with 2008’s “She Left Me for Jesus,” yet Carll has a deeper, more sensitive side too, which he displays on his fine new album You Get It All.
