Born in Quebec, the Vietnam War vet lived in Boston, Colorado, Alaska, and Paris, picking up many musical influences along the way. But it was a six year stay in New Orleans that most impacted his darker, swamp-infused songs and approach. Not surprisingly, he has plenty of stories to tell since turning professional in 1992, and the combination of those tales with his often laconic, groove-laced music will make for an enthralling evening. — HH
