Cost: $25 advance; $28 day of show

CRITIC’S PICK: It’s dubbed “The Rebirth Tour” which makes sense because Kenya-born folk singer Ondara, who made an immediate impression with his 2018 debut, couldn’t follow up that initial success with two subsequent albums. His tenor voice is cool and often eerie, with echoes of Tracy Chapman in song construction and dramatic tone. He tours supporting a third album, 2022’s Spanish Villager No.3 which, with his emotional vocals, soulful folk delivery and bluesy undertones should have attracted more attention than it did. — Hal Horowitz
From the venue:
Ondara’s‚ new album, Spanish Villager No: 3, was predominately produced by Ondara and Mike Viola (Jenny Lewis, Dan Wilson) with contributions from Taylor Goldsmith and Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes, Sebastian Steinberg, Tim Kuhl, and Jeremy Stacey. The new collection of songs features a much more full, electric sound. Of the album, Ondara states, “This collection of work and the work that lies ahead in presenting it to the world, is a metaphor for my spiritual path. There is death and resurrection in it, a peeling of layers, a pursuit of the truest form of the self in the universe.”At Vinyl
