WARM UP FOR CHRISTMAS: Michelle Malone’s Hot Toddies heat things up Dec. 15.
Friday December 15, 2023 08:00 PM EST
Cost: $30-$39
CL RECOMMENDS
CRITIC’S PICK: Get a double dose of Michelle Malone for the price of one. Malone opens the night with Canyonland, her band that takes listeners down the retro road of 70s West Coast hits from the likes of Linda Ronstadt, Stephen Stills, Fleetwood Mac, and others. She then fronts her Hot Toddies for a set of swinging, jazz and torch Christmas fare. It makes a cool combination — and you’re guaranteed a great night of songs which you already know and probably love. — Hal Horowitz

From the venue:

CANYONLAND
Canyonland is Michelle Malone, Doug Kees, Nelson Nolen, Mark Jones, and Mike Rizzi playing the greatest 70s country rock songs of Laurel Canyon. If you like Linda Ronstadt, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, CSN, Emmylou Harris, Jackson Browne, and more, you’ll love Canyonland’s versions of these classic singer songwriter tunes with acoustic guitars, mandolin, percussion, and four-part harmonies. Come sing along and party likes it’s 1977 with Canyonland.

THE HOT TODDIES
“Nothing puts the ‘merry’ in Christmas like Michelle Malone and The Hot Toddies” — Scott Freeman, Arts Atlanta

The Hot Toddies are world renowned musicians who just happened to meet in an Amtrak train station bar in Kalamazoo, MI, on a snowy Christmas Eve. While stranded in a blizzard at the train station with no chance of getting home for the holidays, these fun-loving party favors decided to get out their instruments and provide the other stranded travelers with some real crazy holiday merriment that went into the wee hours of the morning when Santa finally arrived — and the rest is Hot Toddy history!

The Hot Toddies are the perfect swinging and crooning Christmas group for your holiday merriment. Their renditions of holiday classics range from toe tappers that swing to sweet ballads that pull on your heart strings — it’s fun for the whole family, though you may choose to leave the little ones at home in their beds with those sugar plums while you have a swimmingly good Hot Toddy time.
