CRITIC’S PICK: Jersey Boys, City Springs Theatre Company - The Four Seasons had a pretty solid career, selling an estimated 100 million records during their 1960s -’70s heyday, and a touring version of the quartet continues to this day, with Frankie Valli, now 90, still at the helm. ‘Jersey Boys’ is one of those “jukebox musicals” we keep hearing about, and a point in its favor is the absence of Valli’s histrionic vocals. (Haden Rider plays the singer in this production). The group’s history is portrayed in four parts, narrated from each member's perspective, and the show is said to contain “adult themes and language.” The musical racked up Tony, Olivier, and Grammy awards and was turned into a movie, in 2014, by some guy named Clint Eastwood. - Kevin C.
