Through Sat., Mar. 22CRITIC’S PICK: Kevin Cole: In Search of Myself, Arts Exchange - Contrary to its title, this is not a solo exhibition by artist and educator Kevin Cole, but rather a showcase of emerging artists curated by him. Their names are Tony Coppage, Toni Toney, Ashli Ognelodh, Courageous C, Etienne Jackson, Daniel Wingo, Zerric Clinton, Cedric Umoja, S.Darius Parker, Kaylah Hagler, Sheila Bussey and Loni Harshaw, but we know little about them so far. All the more reason to go see the show, I think you’ll agree. Cole himself, though, has had a stellar career going back decades, with 490 exhibitions to his name here and abroad. He states his raison d’être on his website: “For the better part of a lifetime, my work has focused on the atrocities committed against Black men attempting to exercise their rights as citizens of the United States of America, to vote. It started with a stick, some clay, a field, and a tree.” - Kevin C. Madigan
