Editor’s Note - Changes at the Loaf

Also Summer Guide

You’ve seen a lot of change in Creative Loafing recently. Two weeks ago, we shuffled some articles to create the Fallout and Metropolis sections.

But there’s an even bigger change behind the scenes here: In April, we were very fortunate to have longtime Atlanta journalist Scott Freeman join us as senior editor.

Scott’s a former daily newspaper reporter who spent a decade or so at Atlanta magazine, where he won a boatload of awards for both his writing and his editing. He left Atlanta to edit the city magazine in Las Vegas. Then, he headed to America’s playground: Indianapolis.

Scott excels at coaching others into telling great stories and is a deft storyteller in his own right. We feel very fortunate to have lured him into the debauched and exciting world of alternative newspaper journalism.

This year’s Summer Guide is sort of a coming out party for him. It’s packed with great yarns that he edited. An inordinate number of them involve nudity, but that’s not Scott’s fault. At the same time, the Summer Guide also contains practical information, both in the form of how-to boxes that go along with each feature, and extensive listings to help you plan your summer activities.
