When Creative Loafing dropped by Eyedrum yesterday evening, artists were still hard at work on their drawings for this year’s edition of Chalk Off, a chalk-only exhibition that the gallery hosted once before in 2008. Daniel Weir’s piece in the corner of the main gallery was especially eye-catching, as he was hand-smearing the chalk to give it a paint-like texture and glow. Baxter Crane, Spencer Murrill, Mandie Turner Mitchell, Maxwell Sebastian, Ed Windsor, and Priscilla Smith also chalked up contributions on the walls. You can check out more pictures of artists in action after the jump.

Chalk-Off will run through the month of July at Eyedrum.
