The Atlanta Ballet, tapping into a recent mania in the city for public site-specific performances, is unveiling a new “company within a company” called Wabi Sabi. Named after a Japanese aesthetic, the new chamber-performance group is comprised of company dancers and will bring the Ballet’s classic technique to the recently-popularized Atlanta trend of site-specific contemporary dance.

In the future, look for Atlanta Ballet dancers on the streets, in parks, around festivals, and at charity events, but start at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens this Thursday, September 8, at 6 pm for Cocktails in the Garden where the group will have its unveiling.

Upon entering the Botanical Gardens, visitors will be handed a map guiding them to different spots around the gardens where the dancers will be performing, from a tea party pas de deux on the oval to a dance in the waterfalls.
