If you ever drove past Pullman Yard and daydreamed about brining the modern ruins back to life, now’s your chance. The state of Georgia, which owns the collection of beautiful yet dilapidated brick buildings in Kirkwood, has officially put the nearly 27-acre property up for sale.

The State Properties Commission, the agency that handles the state’s real estate portfolio, put the former munitions factory and railcar service facility up for sale andreleased its “invitation to bid” today. Interested parties have until April 2017 to submit their “highest and best” offer for the land, one of intown Atlanta’s largest untapped pieces of property. Oh, and the minimum bid is $5.6 million.

Here’s the lowdown on the site and info about what kind of heavy metals you might find in the soil. And here’s a handy interactive tour CL produced a few years ago.

Pullman Yard has sat mostly vacant since the 1990s and was set to go up for auction in 2013. State officials, however, nixed the plan. Since then, the buildings have been mainly used for film and TV shoots, including The Hunger Games. They have also been a favorite haunt of urban explorers and photographers needing a graffiti-covered brick wall for a backdrop. Law enforcement has stepped up its patrols and started charging trespassers after one person died on the property.

Stan Sugarman, a developer focused on adaptive reuse, has already floated a mixed-use plan for the site that incorporates the existing structures. Atlanta ContactPoint, a nonprofit focused on promoting sports and play, has its own mixed-use vision that includes an urban farm and athletic fields. Both tell CL they are still interested in the property.
