From the venue:
From 1986 through 1996, San Diego was a musical fertile crescent. Remaining isolated from the West Coast’s other musical hubs — Los Angeles and San Francisco — proved to be a boon of sorts. Left to their own devices, bands such as Drive Like Jehu, Rocket From the Crypt, Crash Worship and numerous others fostered a D.I.Y. scene that never broke the mainstream, but still resonates today. Director Bill Perrine’s It’s Gonna Blow: San Diego’s Music Underground 1986-1996 documents this SoCal phenomenon in the words and the sounds of people who made it happen. Birmingham, Ala. rocker Dan Sartain also performs. Screening starts at 9:30 p.m.
