Komansé Dance Theater presents: SKID

Friday January 25, 2019 08:00 PM EST
Cost: $15-$30

From the venue:

Skid, a celebration of Black culture, highlights the vulnerability and strength of humanity. Inspired by the literary work of James Baldwin and the issues of homelessness and gentrification, Skid explores the intricacies of the human condition.

What happens to a person whose humanity is ignored? The dancers of KDT explore the effects of societal disparity on the mind, body, and spirit.

Experience the story through the lens of dance, contemporary trap music, jazz, and hip hop. Komansé Dance Theater partners with Georgia Tech and 3D printed fashion designer, Shami Oshun, to create a new performance atmosphere. A portion of the show’s proceeds will go towards a local homeless shelter. The physical, high-energy movement of the KDT dancers juxtaposed with familiar Atlanta culture embodies the human connection between art and social justice.
