Cover Story: Room escape FAQ

A few things to know before you go

????

Am I really locked in the room?

??
No, not really. If you are starting to panic about the small space, or if you need to use the bathroom or answer a phone call, you can get out. Some places have an exit button you can press, or you can contact a staff member via intercom, on the phone, or in person to open the door during the game.

??

Is it scary?

??
Depends on the place. If you're into dead bodies and creepy-crawlies, try the Zombie Apocalypse room at Paranoia Quest or Trapped in a Room with a Zombie at Room Escape Atlanta. For something less frightening and more mind-boggling, try any of the rooms at Mission: Escape. Most company websites give a quick rundown of the rooms on offer, so you can get an idea of the fear factor before you sign up.

??

How do I sign up?

??
You'll need to reserve a spot in advance. If you're going alone or with a small group, keep in mind that you will likely be in the room with strangers. Some places allow you to book up the whole room for an extra fee. Check the website to make an appointment. Here are some room escape companies in the metro area:
