East Los Angeles meets East Atlanta as Thee Commons take the stage, though listeners would be hard-pressed to find a sound quite like theirs in either city. Self-described as “psychedelic cumbia-punk,” the group pairs surf rock guitar riffs with infectious Afro-Latin grooves, mixing in saxophone and raspy Spanglish vocals for extra flavor. The band has released a slew of albums and EPs through the high-profile Burger Records, and L.A.
