Had enough burglary already?!

Paul Howard launches a burglary public awareness campaign tomorrow.

District Attorney Paul Howard's office — in conjunction with the Fulton County Burglary Task Force — is launching a campaign tomorrow to raise public awareness about Fulton County's burglary problem. How much of a problem is burglary 'round these parts, you ask? Between 2005 and 2008, there was a 43 percent increase in the number of burglaries in Fulton County, compared to a 19 percent increase nationwide.

Entitled, rhetorically and bitterly, "Had Enough Already?!" the campaign will consist of a series of roadside billboards around town featuring former Council president and three-time burglary victim Lisa Borders, and a new website — multimedia website!

The site allows burglary victims to post their own videos — should they be lucky enough to catch crooks on surveillance cameras — and to share their burglary stories.

You'd think newspaper headlines would be public awareness campaign enough, amirite? Howard says, ultimately his goal is to decrease the number of burglaries by 30 percent.
