Peachtree-Pine management could be evicted by New Year's Day
Task Force for the Homeless could be homeless by Jan. 1

If the cogs of the legal system keep turning on schedule, Anita and Jim Beaty could be home for the holidays, having been tossed out of the vast homeless shelter they've operated at the corner of Peachtree and Pine streets for the past 15 years.
OK, we realize we've made similar pronouncements before, but this time we're serious! More to the point, this time the Beatys have run out of legal options and/or stalling mechanisms. I won't rehash all of the court rulings that have gone against them lately. But I will note that, last week, formerly sympathetic Fulton Superior Court Judge Craig Schwall ordered the Beaty's Task Force for the Homeless to pay $20,000 in fees to a court-appointed intermediary who'd been tasked with brokering a truce between the Beatys and the current owner of the shelter building, an outfit called Premium Funding Solutions. Ouch.
On top of that, Schwall scheduled a Dec. 16 hearing to discuss, among other issues, living conditions at the shelter. Seeing as the 100,000-square-foot building doesn't have adequate heat or water and that the Fulton Health Department has confirmed new cases of drug-resistant TB, I'll go out on a limb and guess that conversation won't go well. If the judge is as out-of-patience with the Task Force as he now seems, there's little doubt he'll allow PFS to move forward with eviction.
