2015 Phoenix Fest at a glance

Celebration of art, music, and literature finds new home for year two

? After a successful first year, the /atlanta/rise-of-the-phoenix-fest/Content?oid=12711823Phoenix Festival is back at a new location. Presented by Deer Bear Wolf, the event is a celebration of music, art, and literature. Whereas the inaugural fest took place at Urban Sprout Farms in Lakewood, this year's edition has been moved to the Wherehouse in Peoplestown.
?
? Last year the fest took place at an abandoned motel and a five-acre plot of land bought by Nuri Icgoren and his brother. The Phoenix Festival’s mission was to be a platform celebrating and connecting Atlanta’s arts, music, and literary scenes. The motel's walls became a canvas for local artists such as Enzo, Drue, and sQuishiepuss, and local scribes read new works in front of swimming-pool-turned pond. With over 1,000 people showing up last year, it's no surprise the amount of participating artists has grown significantly in year two.
?
? The growth is most evident in this year's line-up. Visual and performing artists FLY, Romy Aura Maloon and Evan Neal, Meredith Kooi, and Nick Madden join a list that also include murals from returning Phoenix artists sQuishiepuss, Sean Fahie, olive47, and Mac Stewart, and event newcomers such as Ashley Anderson, FRKO, Joe Dreher, Lela Brunet, Isashah Pereira, and Yoyo Ferro.
?
? Back with its third installment, Transgression will be a centerpiece of the fest this year. For this edition, dubbed, Under Mass Hysteria: A Literary Installation of Collective Delusions, writers, local artists, and photographers are sharing works inspired by urban legends and conspiracy theories.
?
? In addition to the art, there's also going to be live music from Kebbi Williams and the Wolfpack, Book of Colors, Ruby Velle, Flamingo Shadow, Midnight Larks, Clothes, Liminal Space, Jared Pepper, Titans of Moisture, Sonic Advent, Victor St. Baloo, and artists such as Little Tybee, Landline, Lily and the Tigers, Red Sea, Factory, 100 Watt Horse, and In Sonitus Lux.
