Quick Bites: Chef Mihoko Obunai to pop up at So Ba, World Peace Cafe closes, and more

• Loving Hut will soon replace World Peace Cafe in Sandy Springs.

Stillhouse, a new craft burger restaurant and moonshine bar, opens today in the East Andrews Entertainment District located at 56 E. Andrews Drive. Expect grassfed beef burgers with cheese baked directly into the buns, Coca-Cola-marinated chicken, and plenty of housemade condiments to go with. The bar will feature moonshine barrel-aged on site with ingredients such as Vidalia onions and Georgia peaches, which are then mixed into cocktails with fresh garnishes.

Cotton Cravings will hold a soft-opening today at Lenox Square Mall. Gearing up for a nationwide shopping mall launch, the company specializes in cotton candy treats flavored with organic and all-natural ingredients and colorings such as Key lime, cookie dough, toasted marshmallow, cinnamon bun, chai latte, and egg nog.

Following a six-month stint at Joli Kobe Kitchen, Mihoko Obunai has resurfaced with plans to launch a ramen and yakitori pop-up out of So Ba in East Atlanta Village. Obunai - along with So Ba owner Nhan Le and former Joli Kobe sous chef Andy Tran - is developing a simple, affordable menu of Japanese eats, which will be available during So Ba's lunch hours starting in mid-September.

While Rathbun's remains in the thick of reconstruction following a damaging fire on July 4, the restaurant is making all due measures to return at the top of its game, promoting Nick Anderson to the post of chef de cuisine. Rathbun's is scheduled to reopen in September.

World Peace Cafe in Sandy Springs closed last Sunday after a six-year run. According to the website, owners of the veggie-friendly cafe are planning to reopen at a new, intown location and are also working on a cookbook. Norcross-based vegan restaurant Loving Hut will replace the eatery on September 7.

Following a month of alcohol-free operation, Emory Village pizza pub Slice & Pint finally received its liquor license on Wednesday. In addition to serving beer, the license should pave the way for the planned on-site microbrewery that will feature Belgian-style Trappist ales.

As reported in various Quick Bites posts past, Doug Turbush's Stem Wine Bar, Common Quarter, Giovanni di Palma's Limoncello Bar, Andy Minchow's Ration & Dram, Tom Catherall's SMASH Kitchen & Bar, and Heirloom Market BBQ's sister restaurant Sobban are all slated to open some time in September. Kimball House, a new restaurant and bar from the owners of Brick Store Pub and Leon's Full Service is looking at a mid-September opening in the historic Decatur Depot building at 303 E. Howard Ave. Leon's barkeep Miles Macquarrie will head up the bar program at Kimball House.

Tomorrow's News Today reports that a Sicilian restaurant called Villagio Italian Kitchen has replaced Capozzi's, the vegetarian Italian restaurant that has resided at 1355 Clairmont Road in Decatur since 2008.
