Best Local Acoustic Band/Artist

Labeling Weaklazyliar an “acoustic” band is a bit of a misnomer. Though they play venues predominantly associated with acoustic performers, they infuse their singer/songwriter fare with a decidedly indie rock sensibility. Thus, owing as much to the Pixies as, say, Joni Mitchell, Weaklazyliar are equally at home in dingy rock clubs as coffeehouses. What do you do with a singer/songwriter with a voice like Dave Matthews, songs like Sting and a face like a member of ‘N Sync? If you’re a record label, you throw a contract at him quickly and pray he’ll sign. It hasn’t happened yet for Mayer, but he’s still frighteningly young (particularly in the older-leaning world of acoustic music).
