Though they play venues predominantly associated with acoustic performers, they infuse their singer/songwriter fare with a decidedly indie rock sensibility. Thus, owing as much to the Pixies as, say, Joni Mitchell, Weaklazyliar are equally at home in dingy rock clubs as coffeehouses. Good to see such versatility, a rare enough commodity these days, actually recognized.

If you’re a record label, you throw a contract at him quickly and pray he’ll sign. It hasn’t happened yet for Mayer, but he’s still frighteningly young (particularly in the older-leaning world of acoustic music). And with his seemingly effortless abilities, it’s only a matter of time.
