The beer selections rotate seasonally at 5 SEASONS, but there’s no doubt these guys are brewing the best local beers around. In the past year we’ve especially enjoyed the Belgian-style beers on tap in Alpharetta, and the Dry Irish Stout served at the Sandy Springs location. If you’remore...

Simply because we are gimmick cynics, we were a little skeptical upon first hearing that Bob Amick and the Atlanta Brewing Company were teaming up for a special brew to be served exclusively in Amick’s restaurants. But once we got a taste of NUMBERS ALE, we became converts. The exceptionally food-friendly ale is a warm golden hue and has a satisfying bitter finish. Nothing washes down the sweet and sour calamari at One Midtown Kitchen or Piebar’s pizza better than a tall pint of this stuff.
Available at Piebar, One Midtown Kitchen and Two Urban Licks.

TERRAPIN RYE PALE ALE was first introduced in Athens in April 2002 at the Classic City Brew Fest. Later that year, it won an American Pale Ale Gold Medal at the Great American Beer Festival. Suddenly, everyone wanted a taste of Terrapin. The beer’s distinctive flavor comes from rye added to the hops and malts in the brewing process. The result is a fruity, refreshing brew. You can’t find Terrapin everywhere — only a handful of Atlanta spots carry it, the Vortex, Meehan’s and Smith’s Olde Bar among them — but it’s worth hunting for.

When it comes to Atlanta’s unrelenting humidity and sweltering heat, nothing cools you better than a pint of classic SWEETWATER 420. With a crispness so refreshing that you sigh when it splashes across your tongue, its light (but not lightweight) body smacks you with nutty, hoppy notes and a round, smooth, slightly malty finish, with a pleasantly bitter aftertaste. That we can guzzle so much of it and still remain standing is ultimately what endears us to this ubiquitous brew. less...
