Unsane has been cranking out devastating noise rock dirges for nearly 30 years. Born of the late '80s/early '90s NYC music scene that spawned Helmet, Prong, Cop Shoot Cop, and the likes, singer, guitarist, and founding member Chris Spencer has continued cranking out brutal noise-punk driven by a life or death instinct. The group's longest-standing lineup, featuring bass player Dave Curran and drummer Vinnie Signorelli, is on the road supporting 2017's Sterilize (Southern Lord). Songs such as "Factory," "Inclusion," and "We're Fucked" are a full-throttle embrace of Unsaneâs primal instincts, pushing forward the groupâs classic form of grinding distortion and teeth-gnashing rage with simple, powerful, real-time anxiety and catharsis. Buy tickets via the Earl.

Hawkwindâs contentious founder Dave Brock may own legal rights to the groupâs name, but Turner possesses its spirit. Since parting ways with Hawkwind for the first time circa 1976, Turner has traversed the globe like a psychedelic Pied Piper. At 77 years old heâs still whipping crowds into a frenzy by unleashing hallucinogenic flute and saxophone blasts, while UK Subs guitarist Nicky Garratt adds muscle to Hawkwindâs older and newer numbers alike. For this Halloween performance, the group's lineup also features keyboards and vocals by Kim Jai Young of Secret Chiefs 3, bass player Doc Miller, and drummer John Thomas. Classic Hawkwind numbers such as âSilver Machineâ meld with the more recent âFallen Angel STS-51-Lâ from 2013âs Space Gypsy, and the bombastic trip into the cosmos, âEnd Of the World,â from his latest album, Life In Space.
