ODESZA make a good case to dance

ODESZA know exactly what they're doing.

FOG ACT: ODESZA make atmospheric electronic tunes that can get a bit heady.

? The Seattle-based twosome of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight craft songs under the ODESZA moniker. Mills and Knight first banded together while studying at Western Washing University in the early '10s, eventually working to bring their heavy-hitting atmospheric music to a rapid boil with the group's second full-length, In Return. When that dropped last year, it seems the duo hit a thudding stride. The album saw a deluxe reissue in September, paying more exhaustive (and earned) applause for the audio storm. Stand-out track "Say My Name" features vocals from Syra, adding another layer to the stormy groove parfait the record stacks. "All We Need," with Shy Girls, takes a candy-coated tropical vacation — a welcome shot of sunshine blazing a smooth hole through the release. ODESZA doesn't make music to bring you specifically up or specifically down. They make music that makes you want to dance through the emotional spectrum.
