Narrator preps for Mission Trips LP, East Coast tour

Experimental trio sheds light on new material with ‘A Figure for the Lawn’ video.

Had we known about this info a little sooner, we may have rethought our recent list of most anticipated releases of the year. Well consider this an addendum of sorts. Roughly three months after Narrator’s debut tape on J Ross Select, the trio announced plans to release an LP with Chris White’s (Magicicada) Mission Trips. White first tipped us off in a recent profile of the musician and label owner, hinting at future releases by Narrator, Lindsay Smith, and Easily Suede, but now we have an actual taste of the new material as well. The above video for “A Figure for the Lawn” (directed by Grey Keith) finds the band venturing noticeably but organically away from the celestial drone and lilting elegiacs we’ve heard before, drifting more toward dark bedroom pop. The brief track pits bizarre vocal effects, hypnotic simplicity, and after-hours bewitchment for an addicting listen.

Narrator also plans to set out on an East Coast tour split into two legs with support from the Widest Smiling Faces and Amadels. Check out the dates after the jump:
