Bow Wow begs for release from Columbia Records
After announcing his retirement a couple of months ago, 22-year-old Bow Wow is back with a special request.
After a couple of months ago, 22-year-old Bow Wow is back, this time to beg his label Columbia Records to release him from his contract.-
The request came via a video he shot for Justin.TV, quoted below by Dipinthemix.com:-
"Everybody in the office at Columbia Records, do me a favor. My fans, they see it. They recognize it. They see you guys ain't working as hard as you guys used to work back in 2000. It's a big difference, they see it...Can you please grant me this one wish? Columbia, can you please grant me this wish and let me go? That's all I'm asking, please let me go. Please, please, please, please, please, please. Thank y'all, I'm out."
In the follow-up Justin.tv video below, Bow Wow details his beef with the label, claiming Columbia doesn't know how to market and promote rap acts. Around the five minute mark he says he's had issues with the label for the last five years.-
But it really gets interesting around 12:22 when he blames Columbia for the "I'm a Flirt" fiasco.-
The original version of the R. Kelly song "I'm a Flirt" feat. Bow Wow was supposed to be the second single from Bow Wow's '06 album The Price of Fame. But it only received a minimal amount of airplay, before quickly being supplanted by R. Kelly's remixed version of the same song featuring T. Pain and T.I., which appeared on Kell's '07 Double Up album.-
So what happened?
