Bulletin Board December 23 2000

May seems a long way off, but if you're a local musician, don't delay in applying for a slot on the upcoming Music Midtown Locals Only stage. Bands should submit a complete kit, including press information, photo, tape or CD, as well as contact details. Mail materials to: Music Midtown Festival, Attn: Booking; 3110 Roswell Road, Atlanta, GA 30305. The deadline is 6 p.m., Thurs., Feb. 1. Next year's event is scheduled for May 4-6.
Animal lovers unite. In this season of giving, The Earl remembers our four-legged friends as they hold the 1st Annual Benefit for Homeless Animals, which will provide funds for the Animal Action Group and the East Atlanta Animal Rescue. Leave your pet at home, but come out to hear the tunes of Andy Browne (whose new CD is being produced by the Brand New Immortals' Mac Carter), Alice Munson (who has a new CD out, and recently contributed songs to a JC Penny CD/CD-ROM) and "special guest celebrities" on Sat., Dec. 23. The Earl's December food drive (for humans) continues, so be sure to come prepared with two cans of food to donate at the door.
Catch up on your local music trivia on this week's GA Music Show which airs Dec. 23. Special host and station GM Mal Murray of 88.5's "Radio Birdman" program dusts off his vinyl and features old school Atlanta bands. We hope he plays a track from the nearly forgotten Brains.
