Atlanta's Bureau of Cultural Affairs is seeking local jazz acts to perform at this year's Atlanta Jazz Festival, held May 19-28. Deadline for submissions is March 1.
Rock-Soul-U-tion Core is a nonprofit network of musicians and supporters whose goal is "to provide progressive alternative music artists with more opportunities in the music industry as well as full promotion of alternative music in urban areas that are seeking exposure to new vibes." Got that? Their next open meeting will be Tues., Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Auburn Avenue Research Library auditorium.
Sleepy Tuesday nights get a shot of adrenaline as the Echo Lounge presents Rock & Roll High School. Morgan from the X-Impossibles and Christy from the Subsonics spin rock, punk, glam, garage and trash starting at 10 p.m. Since you don't hear the Stooges, New York Dolls and the Ramones on the radio much, this'll serve as a history lesson you can mosh to.
This week's featured artist on WRAS' "Georgia Music Show" is Red Level Eleven. The show airs Sat., Feb. 10, at 5 p.m. on 88.5 FM. King Johnson appear on Z93 Sun., Feb. 11. From 8-10 a.m. they'll be chatting on the station's blues show, then they'll return for a live broadcast from the Brandyhouse 10 p.m.-midnight.
