One of the most exciting things about Music Midtown (June 10-12) this year is that hometown hip-hop honcho Jermaine Dupri is overseeing the urban music stage. “I think people have always felt like the urban stage wasn’t really the shit,” Dupri says in a phone interview. “But this year, I just want everybody to have a good time. I want you to either come every day or be mad that you missed the other days.” Already scheduled to perform are Ciara, the Black Eyed Peas, Biz Markie and MC Lyte, with a host of other acts yet to be announced. But Dupri says there’s no truth to rumors that his main squeeze Janet Jackson is going to show up and set things off. “She’s in the studio working on her new album, so that’s not gonna happen.”
