Living Walls 2013: The who, what, where, and when

Living Walls opened its fourth annual conference Wednesday night with a film series curated by Brooklyn Street Art at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center. But don’t worry, there’s still four more days of free public events, not to mention work going up around the city in Old Fourth Ward, Reynoldstown, Castleberry Hill, East Atlanta, and Summerhill by more than 20 local, national, and international artists. THURS., AUG. 15

Tour of Edgewood Avenue: Living Walls partners with the Historic District Development Corporation (HDDC) to offer five guided tours of the historic thoroughfare. 1-5 p.m. Tours begin on the hour at Noni’s, 357 Edgewood Ave.

Block Party: Tour some 2013 walls and others from years past while hitting up the bars and restaurants along Edgewood Avenue as well as a night market in the empty lot between Joystick Gamebar and Mother. 9 p.m.-2 a.m.

FRI., AUG. 16

Lecture Series: ATL History Twins, Rebecca Burns, Assata Richards, Marcos Feldman, and Lisa Murch will discuss art, urban space, and gentrification, among other things at the W Atlanta – Midtown. 5-9 p.m. 188 14th St.

SAT., AUG. 17

The Goat Farm Arts Center and Living Walls Co-Present: The Main Event: Gallery exhibit featuring work of this year’s participating artists, Pecha Kucha-style talks, and musical guests DJ Vicki Powell and Killer Mike. 8 p.m.-2 a.m. 1200 Foster St.

SUN., AUG. 18

Bike Tour of Walls: A tour on two wheels of works by the 2013 artists, including 3ttman, Agostino Iacurci, Axel Void, Brandon Sadler, Christopher Derek Bruno, Elian, Freddy Sam, Gyun Hur, Inti, Jaz, Joshua Ray Stephens, Know Hope, Marcy Starz, Matt Haffner, Laura Bell, 2501, Pastel, Roti, Sam Parker, and Trek Matthews. 5-7 p.m. Start location TBA.
