Bar Review - The Midway Pub

Beer, wi-fi and foosball in EAV

What does East Atlanta Village need? More beer, of course! The newly opened Midway Pub aims to diligently meet that need, as well as a few others.

The cavernous space on Flat Shoals Avenue boasts a long bar, wooden booths and a counter opposite the bar with multiple outlets for laptop use (there’s free Wi-Fi for all you hardworking drinkers). Out front, a new concrete patio feels a bit barren, but this time of year the soft evening air is atmosphere enough.

Twenty-four beers on tap and around 30 more by the bottle provide the real excitement. On tap, the dark, bittersweet Brother Thelonious from California’s North Coast Brewing excellently mimics a Belgian Dubble. Other draft standouts include Victory’s Golden Monkey and the Belgian favorite La Chouffe.

To help wash down your beer, a menu of affordable entrees (steak, fried chicken or mahi-mahi for $9) is served until midnight, and bar nibbles, burgers and sandwiches are available until 2 a.m. There’s also a mini-arcade room, with classic arcade games and a foosball table.
