Dear Karma Cleanser:
I met this girl a few years ago and we fooled around. She was young and got pregnant. I stood by her side. She has a lot of emotional problems, and I've always been a sucker for the damsel in distress. Anyway, she would lie to me all the time, but I fell in love with her. Now we don't even talk anymore. I have full custody of our son. She hasn't paid child support and says that she won't pay unless she sees our son. I've tried to get her to see him and either she is really late or doesn't show up at all. I feel like I should take her back to court but she says that she will take him away from me. I don't think she has anything to hold over my head. I've been thinking about doing some pretty bad things to hurt her. One is putting up naked pics of her at work. I really need some good advice.
b>-- Really Messed Up
Ah yes, the old "you-screwed-me-out-of-child- support-so-now-I'm-posting-beaver-shots-of-you-at-the-office" conundrum. We hear it all too often. No matter how mad you are, resist the urge to stoop to your baby-mama's level. Should she try to challenge you in court, you don't want her to have a single shred of evidence suggesting you're anything but the world's best father. Use this as an impetus to mold yourself to that model.
br>?Dear Karma Cleanser:
I have a destructive and vicious co-worker, "Chris," who has gotten one worker demoted to a much lower position and also tried (to no avail, thank God) to have another person fired. Just recently, Chris' sights have been set on me, trying to get me into a whole heap of trouble. No one has the courage to stand up to Chris. Even our boss appears to be afraid. I keep saying to myself that you reap what you sow, but my patience is wearing very thin. How can someone so mean continue to succeed unchecked without any regard to consequences from karma? My friends have told me to wait until karma does its thing, but this has been going on for five years. Is there anything I can do to coax karma into acting more quickly?
b>-- Trying to Be Patient in Macon
Forget trying to make karma act on your timetable. If it looks like Chris' reign of terror isn't soon going to end, then perhaps this is the universe's way of telling you to go find a happier, healthier workplace. It's like Lily Tomlin once said: "The trouble with the rat race is that even if you win, you're still a rat."
