Profile - Bartram Nason
Longtime cellist on the road with Panic! At the Disco
Some people are just gifted. While that statement could apply to the select few who can lick their own elbows or burp the alphabet on command, right now I'm talking about Bartram Nason — photographer and cellist extraordinaire. The 24-year-old prodigy from Atlanta is currently living the dream, traveling the world making music and taking pictures.
In May, Nason became the cellist for Panic! At the Disco. Since joining the group, he has played at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards and toured overseas for two months. He'll appear with the group at HiFi Buys Amphitheatre Thursday, Nov. 9.
Nason is a freelance photographer whose work has appeared in Newsweek Japan, XXL, London's the Guardian, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (and Creative Loafing).
He was accepted to attend Columbia University's graduate school of journalism this fall, but decided to go on tour with Panic! At the Disco instead.
While Nason loves both music and photography, the cello remains his professional preference and priority; he's been playing for 20 years.
Nason has previously played the cello for the Atlanta Pops Orchestra, the Atlanta Lyric Theatre and the Armonico String Ensemble.
