Culture Surfing - Petra Geiger's Top Five
Beehive Co-op owner
Beehive Co-op owner Petra Geiger ratcheted up the Atlanta handmade movement when she opened her stylish Peachtree Road indie craft and design destination in November 2004.
1) Atlanta artist Jonathan Fenske: "Our recent discovery of his colorful and kitschy paintings excited us to the point of getting a baby sitter and heading to the Matre Gallery to get one."
2) "My Name Is Earl" and "The Office" (NBC): "Two back-to-back Thursday night television comedies that keep me in stitches."
3) Dwell magazine: "I anticipate my issue each month, and when it comes in the mail, I go through it cover to cover. Great modern design seems to be sweeping the country and it's heartening to see."
4) Etsy.com: "An online marketplace for handmade products. I'm always on the lookout for new talent and this is a great place to check out crafters from around the globe."
5) Why Knot Knit: "My mom taught me knitting ages ago and now I rely on it to calm my nerves and produce fun gifts for friends. I love the new knitting store on Buckhead Avenue, Why Knot Knit."
