You’ve never seen a band as locked into a gentle groove as Venice is Sinking. For six years, the Athens group has specialized in slow-rolling, insidious pop. It might not seem like much at first, but it sticks to your soul. The band recorded its most recent album, Sand and Lines, inside the famed Georgia Theatre just before it burned to the ground. There is no better metaphor for the flint Venice sparks with its subtly steely tunes.
