Christmas is a lifestyle choice

OUTWRITE BOOKS GLBT HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING: Eat, drink and be Mary.

Outwrite Books in Midtown kicked off War On Christmas 2007 with panache last Thursday with its third annual ceremonial lighting of the store’s GLBT Holiday Tree. With entertainment by drag queen Ruby Redd and the OurSong gay and lesbian chorus, the event raised $1,600 for Atlanta Pride Committee.

I’m, of course, joking about the War On Christmas. Celebrating tolerance and diversity with a GLBT “holiday” tree is truer to Christ’s teachings than explicitly leveraging religious faith to sell DVDs and lingerie in the mall.
