Deepdene Park construction mystery revealed
When is a bike trail just a really wide sidewalk set back from the road?

For more than 3,204 years about a week, Decatur Metro and I have been conversing via email about the mysterious construction project underway at Deepdene Park. The 22-acre park is one of the many greenspaces along Ponce de Leon Avenue between Briarcliff Road and Decatur designed by that wacky Olmsted clan.
Deepdene, which is located on the north side of the road shortly after you leave the Atlanta city limits, includes a flat meadow that was once the site of pick-up soccer games.
Drive past it today and you'll see a cleared lot and a lot of dump trucks. For a period it appeared crews were working on some infrastructure projects and erosion control measures.
