Sonic Generator presents marathon of modern music at the Woodruff

Georgia Tech’s contemporary music ensemble hosts 10-hour SONICpalooza... with food trucks

Image On Saturday, June 25, from 2 pm to midnight, the Galleria of the Woodruff Arts Center will resound with the sounds of all things modern. Georgia Tech’s contemporary music ensemble Sonic Generator will host SONICpalooza, a free festival of modern music at the Woodruff which will showcase works by contemporary American composers, including minimalist Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, 2008 Pulitzer Prize winning composer David Lang and John Cage. The program includes “local, up-and-coming, old school, downtown, uptown, minimalist, post-minimalist and post-modern composers.” Film, video, and lighting design by local multi-media artist Neil Fried will accompany many of the pieces. Audience members are encouraged to come and go as they please during the performances.

And what would modern music in Atlanta be without food trucks? During the festival, food and drink will be offered for sale outside on the Callaway Plaza from some of Atlanta’s most popular food vendors. For more information and a complete program visit Sonic Generator’s website.
