The Atlanta Ballet serves up a different dish with The Four Seasons
Vivaldi and cloned sheep are both on the menu, Oct 21-23
- (Darryl Bush/The San Francisco Ballet).
- I THINK WE’RE A CLONE NOW: The Atlanta Ballet will perform Wayne McGregor’s EDEN/EDEN October 21-23 at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. Although McGregor never formally studied classical ballet, his pieces are often set on the world’s most prestigious companies.
Creative Loafing’s food writers would probably describe the two pieces on the program of the Atlanta Ballet’s opening weekend as an “unusual pairing.” The first course is James Kudelka’s exuberant and heartfelt choreography set to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Firmly grounded in the traditions of classical ballet and inspired by a popular classical score, this piece was a big audience favorite when the Atlanta Ballet gave the work its US premiere in 2010. Think of it as pasta primavera: a perennially favorite dish, classically prepared.
