Feds arrest suspected gang members in Pittsburgh neighborhood

One location had 'fortified doors and windows' and complex surveillance system

Eight people that law enforcement authorities suspect of being members of the Pittsburgh Jack Boys gang were arrested in the southwest Atlanta neighborhood early this morning in a targeted drug-bust operation.

The U.S. Marshals Service - along with the Atlanta Police Department, the FBI, the Fulton County Sheriff's Department, and the Georgia Department of Corrections-Probation - made the arrests at two homes in the Pittsburgh neighborhood, according to a press release. One of the locations raided by agents contained fortified doors and windows as well as a "complex surveillance system to protect the drug trafficking operation."

During the operation, agents and officers seized 2.1 kilos of suspected cocaine in brick form and "trafficking levels" of marijuana, U.S. Marshals spokesman Gavin Duffy says. Two firearms were also found.

The eight men who were arrested - Deon Howard, Jermaine Howard, Timothy Harrell, Nathanial Howard, John Mitchell, Jonathon Mitchell, Joseph Jones and Jorge Andrews - were charged with various crimes, including criminal gang participation, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, aggravated battery, trafficking cocaine, and possession of methamphetamine.
