Eyedrum moves into FUSE arts space downtown
Nomadic arts organization finds a place to settle down

Eyedrum Art and Music Gallery today announced plans to move into downtown’s FUSE Art Center, a cooperative artists workspace run by C4 Atlanta in downtown’s M. Rich Building.
“This is a big development for us,” executive director Priscilla Smith said in a press release. “We’ve been looking for a home to call our own for a very, very long time. FUSE is a great place to land for now. It will give us visibility and stability while we find a permanent location.”
Eyedrum, which originated in Marshall Avett and Woody Cornwell’s Trinity Avenue loft in 1997, left its space on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in 2010 when the landlord didn’t renew the art nonprofit’s lease. For a longtime, Eyedrum was ground zero for Atlanta’s underground and avant-garde art and music scenes. Since leaving the MLK Drive complex, Eyedrum’s held lots of satellite shows at the Goat Farm and elsewhere and briefly set up shop at the Nelson Street Gallery in Castleberry Hill, now know as Erikson Clock. Eyedrum will christen the relocation with the launch of a new literary and visual art publication Eyedrum Periodically, as well as an inaugural gallery show slated to open June 28.
