We’re just a little under four months away from the 2015 Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF), but the first slate of features have already been announced. The first 10 films, including three Georgia-produced selections, were all directed by women. The homegrown flicks include Jiyoung Lee’s comedy Female Pervert, Danielle Bernstein’s documentary Imba Means Sing, and Danielle Beverley’s Old South, which delves into racial tension in Athens. In all, the first wave of films are comprised of six narrative (fiction) features, and four documentaries. Check back on Fresh Loaf and ATLwood for updates. Till then, full details can be found here.
Filming Updates:
>> Divergent is headed back to ATL on Dec. 17-21.
>> According to Rodney Ho, there are eight new televisions shows getting ready to start production in ATL. Of all the titles, we like the sound of “Get Swank’d.”
>> A little bird aka Peachy Scoop says Ant-Man filmed in Peachtree City yesterday.
Sightings:
>> The Nice Guys filmed earlier this week. Here are some grainy shots of Ryan Gosling and Matt Bomer.
>> All-smiles HLN anchor Robin Meade will be playing some country tunes at Eddie’s Attic on Saturday. Word is Jeff Zucker wants to broadcast it live. OK, so we lied
Deals:
>> Tyler Perry backed out of the Ft. McPherson deal, says the AJC. Not so fast!, says the Atlanta Business Chronicle. What would Madea do?
Castings:
>> The folks over at Fox 5 have a list of eight different casting/modeling/extra calls. Everyone from “Athletically built Military, Law Enforcement types” to “Daughters & Sons / who want to find their Biological Father” should check the list for potential gigs, or just fun reading casting copy.
Miscellany:
>> Power 96.1 morning show hosts Scotty K and Riley are going to live on and broadcast their show from a bus all next week. It’s called the Stuff-A-Bus campaign, and the catch? Folks are encouraged to stop by the bus in Atlantic Station and donate gifts for Toys for Tots. Per Scotty: “If you have an organization or performance group that wants to be a part please email me ASAP!! ScottyK at power961.com.” Get on it!
>> Speaking of Tyler Perry, he’s also a new dad. Chances his newborn child will make cameos in future productions? Count on it.
>> Ever wanted a piece of Burt Reynolds? Like, a piece of memorabilia: Emmy trophy, Braves jersey, props from Smokey and the Bandit? You’re welcome.
>> Apparently, more people watched the mid-season finale of the “The Walking Dead” than the NFL’s Sunday night game.
