Omnivore - Chef Evan Cordes leaves H. Harper Station

We hear that chef Evan Cordes left H. Harper Station last week, just six months after taking the helm back in July 2011. Our sources say that Cordes has been replaced by a sous chef from Woodfire Grill, and that they are also bringing on a young sous from 4th & Swift. No word yet on where Cordes may land, although we hear he’s been spending time in the kitchen at Pura Vida with chef Hector Santiago.

UPDATE: We caught up with owner Jerry Slater who filled us in on what they’ve got cookin’ at H. Harper Station. According to Slater, former Woodfire Grill sous chef Joseph Ward is the restaurant’s new chef. By mid-Jan., Ward will be joined by Andreas Muller, a former sous at 4th & Swift. “I’m really excited” Slater says. “I still see us doing what we’ve been doing, but evolving. The goal is to continue to improve great products and to focus on local sourcing while incorporating some of Ward’s modernist techniques.”

In addition to the menu’s upcoming facelift, the restaurant will also be operating under new hours in the new year. H. Harper Station will no longer be open for lunch and will now be open Tues. nights.
