It's April, and there's finally spring weather in Atlanta. With it arrives new spring produce, the return of neighborhood farmers markets, and seasonal menus to match. Check out these openings and upcoming events hosted by local chefs to celebrate the spring harvest and support local agriculture at the same time.
The Peachtree Road Farmers Market opens on Sat., April 6, and will take place every Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Chef Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene will be there on opening day giving a chef demo, and Alex Gordon will play live music.
During the week of April 14, both the East Atlanta Village and the Grant Park farmers markets open for the season. For those who don't like to see the sunlight before noon on weekends, head to the EAV Farmers Market. This year's opening day is Thurs., April 18, and the market runs every Thursday afternoon from 4to 8 p.m. The Grant Park Farmers Market opens Sun., April 21 and runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., featuring local vendors and fresh produce. Support the local community and get your spring food fix while you're at it.
