It’s no April Fool’s joke, says Elliot Street Pub owner Mike Jakob. In case you missed it, he and his brother Pete are selling the popular Castleberry Hill watering hole. The 4,000 square-foot residential/commercial property, which includes two floors of live/work space, a basement, and a dedicated parking area and patio, has been on the market since last year. Starting April 1, Elliott Street Pub could be yours for $1.5 million - that is if you purchase through Scoutmob. Ed. No, you can’t actually buy the pub through Scoutmob; the e-commerce and deals site and bar owners are just showcasing the property.’‘

Disguised as a Scoutmob Hand-Picked deal that went live this morning, the offer includes both the building and the business, which according to the pub’s official sale website is “established and thriving” and “... a staple on the Atlanta food, music, art, nightlife and just `cool-place to hang out’ scene.” As of Tuesday morning, 51 Elliott Street was listed for $1.7 million on LoopNet.com.

After buying the property in 2004, the brothers spent nearly $1 million renovating the 144-year-old building. Eight years of solid business later, Mike says it’s time to buy a boat and sail around the world:

? ? ?
This wasn’t our career choice, it was a means to an end. I have always wanted to circumnavigate the world on a sailboat and see the world and this was the idea to get to that. So after 8 yrs. and building a great business and meeting some awesome people and friends we will have for a lifetime. It is now time to untie the dock lines and catch the trade winds...

Several interested parties have made offers, but Mike told CL in an email that he and his brother couldn’t let the place go to just anyone:

ESP supports a lot of things in the city: original live music, art, Iron Pour, Atlanta Photography Guild, Atlanta Bicycle Collation, and so many more cool things and groups that began here (scooter rallies, FM24, Flux) ... We aren’t trying to just sell out, but hand over an incredible pub, with great people, and host of activities you will never get bored of. We are going to miss it tremendously, but you are all invited to go sailing with us anytime!!!
