- Manuel’s Tavern
Manuel’s Tavern as we will know it will soon be a thing of the past. But the developer purchasing the Poncey-Highland site says the beloved restaurant and bar, long frequented by politicians, writers, and locals, will survive in some capacity.
Green Street Properties has announced plans to buy the 1.6-acre site off North Highland Avenue. Katharine Kelley, former Jamestown Properties’ managing director of development and construction who left to reboot GSP, said the “plan for the tavern is to refurbish the building.” The Maloof family, which has operated the restaurant and bar since 1956, would be involved again once construction is finished.
