Debbie Millman is considered by many to be one of the most talented graphic designers working today. Technically, she’s way more than that — she’s also CMO for Sterling Brands, co-founder and chair of the world’s first Masters in Branding Program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, a writer, educator, artist, brand consultant, and host of the podcast Design Matters. Thurs., Aug. 11, she’ll be at the Walter C. Hill Auditorium breaking down the ins and outs of branding as part of a lecture titled Why We Brand, Why We Buy.

Millman will offer a fascinating look into how brands affect us more than we realize, through touching on topics that include five waves of modern branding, how human evolution and trends affect branding, why psychology and behavior rituals have to do with it, how today’s brands can stand out, plus much more.

“The conversations that Debbie has with her guests on Design Matters — whether design luminaries or others striving to lead brave, remarkable and creative lives — shape discourse about design and provide inspiration for hundreds of thousands of listeners,” MODA executive director Laura Flusche, PhD, says. “MODA is thrilled to welcome Debbie, and we are grateful for a partnership with Portfolio Center that allows us bring her to Atlanta.”
